About Us

Background

Northern Uganda Youth Development Center (NUYDC) is a youth center that was established in 2007, by the Government of Uganda, to address the special needs of young people (youth) affected by conflicts in Northern Uganda(PRDP Region).

The center is located 18kms on Gulu-Moroto Road in Labora, Koro Sub County; Omoro District.

Our Vision

We are a youth development Centre working to inspire, empower and guide young persons of the ages 14-30 in Northern Uganda through information and skills to enable them to secure their livelihood, realize their goals, and contribute to the development

Target Group

NUYDC targets vulnerable youth in these categories;

  1. Youth of 14-30 years of age
  2. Youth who are out of formal school (Dropouts)
  3. Female youth ( at least 30% across all courses)
  4. Orphans
  5. Under aged mothers (child mother)
  6. Youth who are heads of households

Opportunities offered by NUYDC

NUYDC provides vocational skills opportunities to the youths who missed out on formal education and have no skills for employment from the PRDP region that include: – Acholi, Lango, West Nile, Teso, Karamoja, Bukedi, Elgon, and Bunyoro Sub Regions.

Training is one year for purely competency-based training, examinable by Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) and, two years for National Certificate, examinable by Uganda Business and Technical Examination (UBTEB). Below are the courses available for the 2020 academic year.
